FamilySearch is the largest online collection of historical records available to genealogists, family historians, and you. With over 4 billion records available online and new records continually added, this is a prime website to begin looking for records of your ancestors. The website is free to all users. You can create an account if you wish but it is not necessary to access the records. has the following research options:

Search for your ancestors in historical records which include indexes, extracted records, and images of original records when available. With you can easily find the following records:

You can made your search as broad or as specific as you want, and modify your search options easily.

Search a catalog of genealogy materials. Not all the materials in this catalog are available online now but this catalog will tell you where you can access them if they cannot be accessed online. The catalog includes:
