Write Your Story Your Way, Part 5 Conclusion

November 22, 2013

A Memento

Mementos are keepsakes that remind us of the past. In family history we often call mementos heirlooms, those objects that matter to family or that contribute to the family story. What mementos have you collected over the years that help tell your story? Find a way to include them in your history.

Here are a few suggestions:

  • Decide what mementos matter to you.
  • Write why they matter. What are the stories and history behind your mementos.
  • Take a photo of your mementos and include the photos in your history.

For more information about preserving and writing about family heirlooms read the article “Treasure Tales” by Denise Levenick online here.
